about this project...

This whole thing started when I decided to do a 365 project in January of 2011 (one photo a day for a year). But then my camera broke. And that's kind of funny because it had finally occurred to me that you can't plan life. So I stopped seeking out photos to take and started living a little more. And I got back into volleyball, and I planned a trip to Tuscany and I took an Italian class. And I reconnected with old friends, made some new ones, jumped out of a plane, decided to play softball for the summer and discovered that I like to drink tequila and, hell, I even moved into Manhattan! And then the time was right so I bought a NEW camera to take some new photos with, and I'll share them with you here. So, welcome to my non-project. Or, as I like to call it, life.

January is done!  One month down, 11 to go!  My poinsettia is STILL alive!

Grumpy's.  Hipster haven.  I so stick out in my neighborhood for lack of Polish blood or plaid clothing.  You should have seen the crazy eyes that came my way when I walked in here with my bright orange Northface jacket.  I counted 15 mac books.  I can't imagine how they would react if they knew I have cable AND a land line telephone...!?

23rd birthday celebrations typically go into the wee hours of the following morning.  My sister will kill me when she sees this.  Oh well, I love her and she cracks me up.

Happy 23rd Birthday Kerry!  24 sparkly candles (1 for good luck) at San Marzano Pizzeria.

A day in downtown Brooklyn!  Today, I got my motorcycle permit.  On my way home I ran into this fat and happy snowman.  Is it possible to not smile when you see this?

Standard Lane!  And the chaos that is Northern Boulevard.  Trekking to the subway with Molly.

My Road ID has been sitting on my dresser daring me to go for a run in the snowy, icy, slushy weather we've been having for the past month.  I have yet to take her up on it.  I can not wait for the messy snow to be gone so I can hit the pavement again.  I also can't wait for more daylight so I can get more outdoor photos for this project!

Ram Cycles!  This one's for the Ramily.
Went to the Bike Show at Javits Center today, and found the new love of my life in a Triumph Thruxton, a 1960's inspired motorcycle.

Sometimes a gooey grilled cheese stuffed with vine ripe tomato and spicy arugula is just what the doctor ordered.

You see a blurry photo, I see Ranger's fans celebrating their 7-0 win against Toronto.  Not bad for my first pro hockey game!  Obviously I cheered the Rangers and Chris Drury on wearing my 1989 Little League World Series Championship tshirt.

Starting off a new volleyball season on the right foot.  Out for pre-game (yes, as in BEFORE the match) drinks at PJ Clarke's.  I might have been a little slow blocking, but team bonding is always worth it.

Undisturbed snow in Greenpoint.  A rare find, even for Newel Street!

Looking at LIC from the Pulaski Bridge.  It was a chilly walk home after Hot Yoga.  My favorite view of the city is about 45 degrees to the left, at dusk in the fall.

I can't wait until blueberry season is here!  Summer, I miss you.

Eh, blurry - but the only photo I took today.  Look at all those organic soups at my local market!

Amazingly enough, I have not yet killed my Christmas Poinsettia!

Tournament Day!  Kind of a copout photo because we had an all day tournament today at Baruch in the city, and I am fighting a cold that has been beating me up all week.

So it's really tough capturing humans in manual settings with a point & shoot.  Still figuring that out.  I played with this one a little thought and thought Jamee looked so pretty looking at my photo book from Spain!
Looks like she wants to take a trip of her own :)

Snow Day! Couldn't help but think about the excitement of snow days when I was a kid as I was on my way to work passing by PS 34.  Too bad we don't still get them as grown ups.

Needing some Torremilanos Cyclo right about now...

Post Open Enrollment sick week is here.  Today I ate a bowl of Special K with the strawberries, a cup of Italian Wedding Soup and drank what's missing from this bottle.  Mmm, mmm, good.

Theme: Cold.  9 days after the massive December blizzard of 2010, this car is still parked on a huge mound of snow.  I would have loved to watch him get it into this "spot."  Even better, I'd love to see him try to get out of it...
Oh, Brooklyn...

Today's Theme: Old.  These moldy tomatoes were hiding on top of my refrigerator.  Gross.

Went for a walk through my neighborhood today, and came across these women's leather boots sitting in a puddle on West Street between Huron & India streets.  Before you judge a person, try walking a mile in their shoes...

Welcome, 2011.  Welcome, new beginnings.  Drank this bubbly with SL before going out to ring in the new year.
